Old Miners Day Parade
CHLORIDE, ARIZONA - For the 32nd year Chloride, honors its historic past by celebrating Old Miner's Day, Saturday, June 28.
Gather up your family for a fun filled day in the oldest silver mining camp in Arizona. Events begin at 9 a.m. with a bake sale, while vendors of every kind are located in the Town hall on Payroll and around Chloride Park on Second Street.
At 11 a.m. the Black Mountain Gunfighters perform at Cyanide Springs on Elkhart Street. The Black Mountain guys and gals take you back 100 years when the streets of Chloride were full of miners and desperadoes. Their performance includes fast action shoot outs and outrageous antics.
The always unique Old Miner's Day parade travels down Tennessee Avenue at "high noon". Entries include the Masonic Shriners, floats, classic and antique cars, tractors, equestrian and participates of every shape and size.
At 1 p.m. the only all-female gunfight group in the country, the Wild Roses, performs at Cyanide Springs. The Wild Roses are a combination of soiled doves and rough and tumble gals that run the town without men.
In between gunfights The Sidewinders, a musical group from Kingman will perform in the Silver Belles Playhouse, while in the park the Red Hat group from Chloride will host a Burro Biscuit Toss, along with clowns, face painting and other family friendly events. At 2 p.m. parade awards will be given out at the Town Hall, along with the drawing for a variety of prizes.
The entire family will find something to see and do in Chloride. For history buffs visit the old jail, the bank vault and the Chloride Historical Society's museum in Cyanide Springs. Among the shops in town you'll find handmade silver jewelry, rocks and minerals, paintings, antiques, collectibles and Southwestern gifts. When hunger pangs strike there are two great restaurants serving a variety of fare.
If you have a 4-wheel drive vehicle visit the Chloride Murals recently repainted by artist Roy Purcell. The murals are just a short drive or hike east of Chloride.
